The 2025-2026 school year has begun and there will be many changes and issues for the education sector of the whole country in general and Tay Ninh (after the merger) in particular.

Changing educational scale

After the merger, Tay Ninh has many changes in terms of educational scale, number of schools, students and teachers. Not only that, the education sector has also reorganized and rewritten the content of many subjects; in which, for the provincial level, it is certain that the Local Education Documents must be rewritten.

According to the Department of Education and Training, up to this point, the sector has reviewed the entire school system from kindergarten to high school in 96 communes, wards and towns, promptly repaired and upgraded degraded items, and built new classrooms to meet the requirements, especially in border areas, remote areas. After the merger, the whole Tay Ninh province has up to 1,022 schools, the largest scale and number ever.

“The 2025-2026 school year opens in a competitive atmosphere to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the National Education. This is a school year with many new features: continuing to implement the 2018 General Education Program in all grades, enhancing the application of information technology and digital transformation in management and teaching. The education sector expands experiential activities, career guidance, promotes comprehensive education associated with training life skills, civic qualities for students and implementing a 2-level local government” - informed the leader of the Department of Education and Training.

A major turning point occurred when Long An and Tay Ninh provinces merged according to Resolution No. 202 of the National Assembly, June 12, 2025. After the merger, the new Tay Ninh province has a total natural area of 8,536.44 km², a population of 3,254,170 people; a total number of schools from preschool to general education of 1,022, located in 96 communes and wards; a total number of civil servants in the entire education sector of 32,250.

“This merger is not just a matter of adding up data, it is the integration of two education systems that have had separate developments. The larger scale brings potential in terms of resources (total budget, number of teachers, facilities) and the ability to implement larger policies. However, the challenges are huge, such as synchronizing management mechanisms, unifying programs and standards, overcoming the shortage of teachers in some subjects as well as narrowing the gap in facilities between regions. If we take full advantage of the merged resources and at the same time harmoniously resolve the difficulties, the Tay Ninh education sector can become a testament to the capacity of management, organization and development in the context of major administrative changes, making an important contribution to the sustainable development of the province and the region” - the leader of the Department of Education and Training commented on the education sector after the merger.

Ensuring neutrality in consolidating local education documents:

One of the issues that needs to be resolved soon is the merger of the Local Education Documents of the two former provinces of Tay Ninh and Long An.

How will the merger of the Local Education Documents (of the former Tay Ninh and Long An) be implemented and when will it be implemented? In response to the above question, the leader of the Department of Education and Training informed that in the 2024-2025 school year, the Department of Education and Training of Long An and the former Tay Ninh have correctly and fully implemented the procedures for compiling the Local Education Documents from grades 1 to 12 and have been approved by the Ministry of Education and Training.

After the decision to merge the two provinces was made, the Department of Education and Training has been coordinating with the Gia Dinh Education Publishing House (the unit that has coordinated in compiling local documents for the former Long An and Tay Ninh) to edit the documents on the basis of merging the two previously approved documents.

On August 6, 2025, the Department of Education and Training held a meeting on the revision of this document. The revision ensures the consolidation of the curriculum framework, content, and topics in the documents of the two provinces approved by the Ministry.

The document consolidation process ensures the principles of neutrality, unbiased connection, support between the two localities, information selection, updating, and suitability for the psychology of students at each level and age.

In the 2025-2026 school year, schools will temporarily use the documents according to the old administrative unit. By the 2026-2027 school year, the entire Tay Ninh province will use a unified set of new documents.

Education is the top priority

In the memoir "Cong truong mo ra" The School Gate Opens by translator and writer Ly Lan (printed in the Literature textbook for grade 7, General Education Program in 2000), the author has an inner monologue for her child before the first day of school: “I heard that in Japan, the first day of school is a holiday for the whole society. Adults take time off work to take children to school, the streets are cleared and decorated cheerfully. All state officials on the morning of the first day of school divide up to attend the opening ceremony at all schools, big and small. By doing so, they want to commit that there is no greater priority than educating the young generation for the future. The officials also take this opportunity to inspect the school, meet with the principal, teachers and parents of students, to promptly adjust educational policies. Everyone knows that every mistake in education will affect a whole future generation, and a small mistake can lead to a system that is miles away from the right track. Tonight I can't sleep. Tomorrow is the first day of your first grade. I will take you to school, hold your hand and lead you through the gate, then let go and say: "Go, be brave, this world is yours, step through the school gate and a magical world will open up."

Along with the development of society, the role of education is especially valued, is the top priority of all countries. The role of education for society is shown in 4 main aspects, including: Improving the knowledge of all countries and ethnic groups; providing qualified human resources; protecting the country's political system; nurturing talents, building the workforce.

Education helps preserve and transmit knowledge and skills from generation to generation, contributing to the training of morality and the perfection of personality of each individual. Therefore, the role of education for people is extremely important and irreplaceable in modern society.

The 2018 General Education Program has completed a full cycle (from grade 1 to grade 12). The advantages and limitations of the program have been discussed and debated a lot, from different perspectives. Unlike other fields, education does not have regional divisions, rural or urban, plain or mountainous areas. The whole country implements a unified program, therefore, an educational problem occurring in one locality can also represent another locality. Advantages are common advantages, difficulties and limitations are also common difficulties. The differences, if any, are not significant./.
