Preparing for the opening ceremony of Tan Nam - Meun Chey International Border Gate

On August 29th , at the Tan Nam International Border Gate Border Guard Station (Tan Nam Hamlet, Tan Bien Commune, Tay Ninh Province), the People's Committee of Tay Ninh Province (Vietnam) and the Administration Board of Prey Veng Province (Kingdom of Cambodia) held a bilateral meeting to check the preparation for the opening ceremony of the Tan Nam - Meun Chey International Border Gate.

Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Thanh and Deputy Governor of the Prey Veng Provincial Administration Board Pich Sotharoth co-chaired and led the meeting. Attending the meeting were leaders of departments, agencies, branches, and armed forces of Tay Ninh and Prey Veng provinces.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed and agreed on related contents such as the expected time to organize the opening ceremony of Tan Nam - Meun Chey International Border Gate; ceremony location, ribbon cutting location, guest list, ceremony program, coordination plan and security plan, etc.

As proposed, the opening ceremony will be held at the Tan Nam International Border Gate Joint Control Station. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the border demarcation line in the middle of the Tan Nam - Meun Chey Friendship Bridge.

The guest list includes about 300 delegates, along with other coordinated activities such as reception, logistics, foreign security, witnessing immigration and import-export activities, etc.

Tay Ninh Department of Foreign Affairs was assigned to be the focal point, coordinating with the Administrative Office of Prey Veng province to discuss and agree on the preparation of reception, logistics, program development, and reports on the formation and development process of the Tan Nam and Meun Chey border gates.

The two sides agreed on the expected time for the opening of the Tan Nam - Meun Chey International Border Gate from October 20 to 30, 2025, on a national scale, co-organized and hosted by Tay Ninh province and Prey Veng province at the Tan Nam International Border Gate area (Vietnam) and Meun Chey (Kingdom of Cambodia).

Speaking at the meeting, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Thanh emphasized that the organization of the ceremony to announce the opening of the pair of border gates aims to promote international cooperation, deep and sustainable international economic integration, and strengthen defense diplomacy, security diplomacy, and border diplomacy.

He requested relevant departments, branches, localities and units to carry out assigned tasks according to the assignment plan, closely coordinate with Prey Veng province in the process of organizing the opening ceremony to ensure security, safety and solemnity.

Deputy Governor of the Prey Veng Provincial Administration Board Pich Sotharoth affirmed that Prey Veng province is always ready to cooperate closely with the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province so that the opening ceremony of the Tan Nam - Meun Chey International Border Gate will be implemented as planned, in the spirit of friendly cooperation, promoting trade, strengthening cooperation and expanding development between the two provinces of Tay Ninh - Prey Veng, fostering the traditional friendship between the two countries of Vietnam - Cambodia in the coming time.

After the meeting, representatives of Tay Ninh and Prey Veng provinces signed the minutes of the bilateral meeting, agreeing on the plan to prepare for the opening ceremony of the Tan Nam - Meun Chey International Border Gate. The content of the meeting will be reported by both sides to the governments and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the two countries to seek opinions, approve the policy, and agree on the time to organize the opening ceremony as soon as possible.

Previously, the leaders of the two provinces and the working delegation had a survey of the construction progress, agreed on the location and venue, and proposed the time to hold the opening ceremony of the Tan Nam - Meun Chey International Border Gate./.
